The second week of the trial of the “Rape of Mazan” case, in which our partner Antoine Camus is counsel, along with Stéphane Babonneau, of Mrs Gisèle Pelicot and her family, came to a close on Thursday at the criminal court in Avignon.
At the heart of the debates of this exceptional trial, involving 51 men for alleged acts of chemical submission and rape, are fundamental and structuring questions for our society, including the definition of consent in sexual matters.
The trial has been suspended until Monday, pending the medical treatment of the main defendant, Dominique Pelicot, which will enable him not only to attend but also to actively participate in the proceedings.
We would like to thank all the messages of support we have received for our client and her family, we will pass them on, as well as those which have reached our team. They come from France, India, Iran, the United States and all over the world.
