Lerins continues to grow with the launch of a Finance practice and the arrival of Ariane Berthoud, who joins as its 17th partner.
By adding a Finance practice, Lerins offers its clients a single, integrated team able to handle every aspect of one and the same transaction. The firm can now structure, negotiate and secure both an M&A transaction and its financing, end to end, through close cooperation between the new practice and the firm’s other practice areas.
Recognised expertise in structured finance
With over twenty years’ experience, Ariane Berthoud advises borrowers and lenders on their financing transactions. She acts on acquisition finance, private equity and project finance, at every stage of a transaction – from selecting the appropriate instruments (senior debt, unitranche, mezzanine) through to closing.
She advises clients across France, Europe and Africa.
“Our clients now find every skill a transaction calls for under one roof, from M&A to financing, including tax and employment law. It is this ability to see a matter through end to end that makes the difference on complex transactions, and Ariane Berthoud’s arrival adds valuable complementary expertise”, say Elsa Rodrigues and Laurent Bernet, co-managing partners of Lerins.
“At Lerins, I found a real growth project and a team I wanted to work with from our very first conversations. People here build in a collective spirit, which counts for as much as the work itself. I also see strong scope to grow my practice and build a team dedicated to financing of every kind”, adds Ariane Berthoud, partner.
Ariane Berthoud has spent most of her career within leading international business law firms. Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2002, she began her career at Hogan Lovells where she spent 20 years, before joining Hoche to build its Finance team, which she went on to leave for Winston & Strawn together with her team. She holds a Master 2 (DESS) from Paris Nanterre University and an LL.M. from the University of Kent.
